The way things are going a lot of people are looking to buy fuel-efficient vehicles. The Honda Insight hybrid is regarded as the best selection efficiency wise as it receives 60 miles to the gallon with city driving and 66 miles to the gallon on the open road. The Insight was created to use low resistance tires to reap the benefits out of the power of the mix of electric motor and 1.0 gas engine. Even so, the Insight did not offer a lot of space and had some uncommon style issues.

With regards to mid-sized cars, the Toyota Prius hybrid is the favorite as far as operation goes and it also boasts the capability to carry as many as five people. The Prius uses a combination of fuel engine and electric motor to deliver 110 HP enabling it to reach 51 mpg while driving in the city and 48 mpg on the open road. The slick form of the Prius permits it to be a bigger vehicle than the Insight. The Honda Civic hybrid is the least expensive hybrid in North America, based on its reputation, and it is the most efficient small car with 49 mpg in the city and 51 mpg on the highway. Because of its improvement over the regular Civic design and output of 110 HP, the Civic hybrid is an extreme competitor in its class.

With regards to efficient subcompact automobiles, the Volkswagen Beetle diesel is number one in that particular category. Even though 100 HP does not seem that extraordinary, it has a torque of 177 lb-foot. Pontiac and Toyota combined for the most efficient station wagon at 30 mpg in city travel and 36 mpg on the road. Toyota together with General Motors had a joint venture in creating the Pontiac Vibe and the Toyota Matrix. Most of the design and technological innovation came from General Motors, but they both have engines from Toyota. The Matrix and Vibe possess efficiency, refinement and smoothness, but they are not going to win any street race with their 1.8L 4 cylinder engine, that produces 126 HP.

The Hyundai Sonata is most likely the leading car in terms of efficiency rating for big cars as it receives 24 mpg in city driving and almost 35 mpg in freeway driving. It was quite surprising because of the quality of the other competitors. It features a proficient, reactive 2.4 L 4 cylinder engine. Its suspension is somewhat soft and targeted more toward comfort than its ability to handle the vehicle. It has been well constructed even if it isn’t quite the level of a BMW. The development of Hyundai automobiles has noted substantial improvements thus upgrading the quality of the vehicles.

There are many fuel-efficient cars being produced today, giving a much greater choice for the drivers. You have a host of additional choices now that energy conservation is extremely popular in our society.
